About me

Hola, I'm Julia

Today, I am the professional who helps busy British adults feel confident speaking Spanish and, above all, truly enjoy their experience in Spain.

There was a time when I would have simply introduced myself as someone passionate about teaching. I would have told you that I studied Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, that I completed two master's degrees (one in teaching and another in research) and that I began my journey in education in 2012, in Granada, a city that profoundly shaped the way I understand life and culture.

I would also have shared my experiences working on cruises in Norway and spending summers in international camps for companies such as MasterChef (USA). These experiences taught me something I now consider essential: how to adapt, communicate with people from different cultures, and step outside my comfort zone.

Since 2013, I have been working as a secondary school Spanish teacher in one of the top independent schools in the United Kingdom.

And all of that is still part of who I am.

But today, I want to introduce myself in a different way.

Why my teaching is different

I know exactly what it means to live in another country

I have been living in the United Kingdom for over 13 years.

  • I know what it feels like to want to express yourself and not find the words.
  • I know what it feels like to understand, but not feel able to speak.
  • I know what it feels like to be “on the outside” when all you really want is to belong.

And that is why my way of teaching is different.

I don't want you to memorise endless vocabulary lists. I don't want you to study grammar without context.

What I want for you

I want you to feel like yourself when you are in Spain

Not like just another tourist, but confident, connected, and at home.

  • Order in a restaurant with confidence
  • Hold simple conversations naturally
  • Connect with local people
  • Understand the culture from within
  • Enjoy Spain without feeling limited by the language

I have been teaching British adults since 2013, and in 2023 I decided to take a step further: to create my own school, Connect in Spanish. A space where I continue to grow as both a teacher and a person, while supporting others in speaking Spanish with confidence and ease.

My methodology is practical, simple, and focused on real results, because I know your time is valuable.

I deeply believe in three things: commitment, consistency, and daily progress.

What defines me

Three forces that shape who I am

Being a foreigner

Living outside my country for over 13 years. I understand the journey from the inside.

Being a mother

An experience that has profoundly transformed me and how I connect with people.

Karate

A discipline that reminds me every day of practice, discipline, and perseverance.

Spanish stops being a barrier…
and starts becoming a door

A door to Spain, to its people, and to a different way of experiencing it.

If you are willing to commit to yourself, I'd love to help you take that first step.
